Hyper-V Server Admin Snippets

Been in a bind with a Hyper-V server that doesn’t want to talk?  Can’t get remote monitoring or administration working? Check the firewall state – you might find that it’s in public mode.

netsh advfirewall show currentprofile will show you the current mode.  If you find that your public profile is active, you might want to try one of the following commands.

netsh advfirewall set domainprofile state off

netsh advfirewall set privateprofile state off

netsh advfirewall set publicprofile state off

You can substitute state off with state on if you wish to turn ON the private or domain profiles.  To turn off all profiles, netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off should do the trick.
