Symantec Endpoint Maintenance

Filed under: Antivirus, Symantec — solutionsthroughit @ 17:05

Had to run a little tidy up on a Symantec Endpoint system at a clients.

To shrink the endpoint database visit this link.  If you can’t get into the SEP console (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console) visit this link to find out how to reset the password (to admin/admin).  Note: this won’t speed up the “you’ve locked the account because you put the wrong password in too many times” issue :).

Begin ShrinkSEP.bat

@echo off
cls
echo.
echo Stopping Symantec Services …
echo.
net stop "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" /y
net stop "Symantec Embedded Database" /y
echo.
echo Services should be stopped.
echo.
echo Now starting database shrink process …
echo.
cd \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\ASA\win32
dbunload -c "dbf=C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\sem5.db;start=dbsrv9;uid=dba;pwd=symantec" -ar
net start "Symantec Embedded Database"
net start "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager"
echo.
echo Now completed database shrink process.
echo.
