SQL Server Management Studio – No Description on saving a maintenance plan

Problem

On SQL2005 (with or without SP1), attempting to save an edit to an existing Maintenance plan or save a new maintenace plan results in a dialog box with the message "No description found"

Resolution

Execute the following in a command prompt.  If you’re wanting to create a batch file for this, add a “/s” after the regsvr32 command for a silent execution.

regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml6.dll
