SQL 2005 – No Description error when saving maintenance plan

I’ve run into this issue a few times now and it’s always been faster to re-create the maintenance plan than go looking for a resolution.  This time, the job was rather convoluted, and I didn’t want to be re-creating it.

So, a quick Google later, and we’ve got this resolution.  Whilst the actual KB article relates to Visio, I’ve resolved this issue on two servers so far that don’t have Visio installed.

Simple execute the following command from a cmd shell, and you’re away and saving!

regsvr32.exe ole32.dll
